Miriam Cocina Latina has expanded to the suburb of Coppell. The flagship restaurant opened in 2019 adjacent to Klyde Warren Park and is widely known for the charismatic charm of founder Miriam Jimenez.
The traditional dishes from her kitchen represent a broad scope of Latin flavors, from Jimenez’s native Dominican Republic to a few Tex-Mex staples (almost compulsory in these parts).
Like the original space with its views of bustling downtown and the park, the new location at The Sound at Cypress Waters is also picturesque. In addition to the spacious dining room, a big (climate-controlled) patio faces the North Lake waterfront.
Miriam Cocina is open for lunch and dinner, and — soon— brunch on the weekends. The menu leans on fresh and light variations of traditional Latin dishes; some favorites include ceviche Punta Cana and the Pescado a la Veracruzano ($29.95), a whole fried snapper served with a traditional sauce. There are also empanadas, short rib enchiladas, carne asada and cabrito a la diabla.
Brunch offers a cornucopia of options from bacon, egg and cheese waffle sandwiches to creme brulee French toast and chilaquiles.
More than 100 drinks on the beverage menu range from martinis to margaritas and Sangria. There’s even a nod to co-owner Shannon Wynne: Shannon’s Milk Punch ($14) is whole milk with bourbon, brown sugar and vanilla extract.
Miriam Cocina joins several other spots from Wynn and his team at Cypress Waters, including Flying Fish, Flying Saucer and Rodeo Goat.
